Cochrane Ranch House Elopement

If you are looking for a light indoor wedding location in the Calgary area, look no further than the Hall of Visions at the Cochrane Ranch House.

I was so happy when spring arrived in southern Alberta in March! What a great day to be a Wedding Photographer in 2021! It was a sunny and warm day for this sweet elopement between Cathy and Henrique. This couple were just ready to be married. Covid-19 was not going to stop them! Cathy, from a large Calgary based family and Henrique’s family are all in Brazil. They opted for a simple, small ceremony. A best friend, who became an officiant just for the occasion, two young children, who do not feature here for their privacy, and their lovely grandmothers.

It was the first time I’d been to the Cochrane Ranch House, despite my own husband having grown up out there. The Hall of Vision = wow. Amazing vaulted ceilings with exposed beams. The juxtaposition of rock walls and rustic wood. So many windows for a bright and airy wedding. Smack in the middle was an amazing fireplace to be the focal point of the room. The bride’s best friend had surprise gifted her an amazing spread of flowers from Adventure Florals. Jaw dropping!

Eye of the Tiger started to play and it was the cue to start the ceremony. Bride and groom made their entrances. And it was an emotional ceremony full of video streaming, prerecorded messages and an amazing surprise for the bride…

Vow’s were exchanged and it came time to exchange rings. The groom pulled out the box and opened it. Cathy got a shock to see a ring that had only arrived from Brazil the day before! She was overwhelmed and LOVED IT!

The register was signed and it was time for cake! Cathy had planned just to take it home but we convinced her she had to cut it! It is a tradition to feed each other wedding cake! Plus another yummy surprise in the centre from Crave Cupcakes…

That amazing pink dress from BHLDN was dying for some pretty portraits. The bride was all too happy to oblige and show off her wedding day glow.

One of my favourite things as a Calgary wedding photography is when my clients agree to make time for some sunset portraits. Despite the overcast, we still got some B-E_A_Utiful portraits of these lovebirds.
